Pittsburgh is also historically special because it is at this point – “the Golden Triangle” – where some significant history occurred – first with the French and Indian War and then with the War of Independence from the British. Well, the British are going to again invade the city, but this time, we’ll certainly be made very welcome! There is so much to see and do at Station Square with stores, restaurants and shops. The Mon Incline is right at our doorstep (one of two in Pittsburgh), which will take you high above the city for a spectacular view. You can take the subway located adjacent to Station Square and venture across the river to downtown Pittsburgh. We are working hard to make the most of all that Pittsburgh has to offer. HOTEL RESERVATION INFORMATION APPEARS BELOW. Watch the magazine & TBPA web site for more information concerning the Convention Registration; Tours; Banquet and all the other activities we have planned. One City, Three Rivers, Endless Possibilities – that’s Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the next convention venue. We will be meeting and relaxing at Pittsburgh’s only riverfront hotel, the Sheraton Station Square Hotel. Just steps away from downtown and adjacent to over 30 shops, restaurants and nightclubs at Station Square. You can stroll the Riverwalk and enjoy a magnificent view of the city and watch a musical fountain show at Bessemer Court right there at Station Square. Pittsburgh is a place of great history and startling beauty – an unforgettable trip to the top of Pittsburgh’s Mt. Washington on one of the famed inclines will reward visitors with one of the most beautiful views in America as voted by USA Today. The Station Square Dock of the Gateway Clipper Fleet is also only a short walk from our hotel. This is a premier fleet and one of the largest inland waterway clipper fleets. Also imagine a 13-room Victorian glasshouse where walls of glass, floors of flowers and color from ceilings to the sky comprise one of the finest collections of flora around. That is Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Here you can enjoy a Tropical Forest which features cascading indoor waterfalls, English and butterfly gardens, lovely pools and fountains and places to sit and relax while taking in all the beautiful flowers. Pittsburgh is a city only two miles in diameter; but full of museums, shops and things to do and see. It is a city of varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds with a large presence of UK companies. Few cities can match what Pittsburgh has to offer and plans are progressing to make it a truly fun and exciting time for TBPA members and guests.
There is a popular song from the 40’s describing how we in Pennsylvania sometimes have fun! It goes likes this: “Strike up the music, the band has begun, ‘The Pennsylvania Polka’. Pick out your partner and join in the fun, ‘The Pennsylvania Polka’. It started in Scranton, it’s now No. 1. It’s bound to entertain you. Everybody has a mania to do the polka from Pennsylvania.” So please mark your calendars now! As always, we need your participation and support and we look forward to seeing you in 2010 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania!
